I joined in the wee hours this morning, unable to sleep (surely there must be postmenopausal angels who can give us back our old sleep patterns!!!) and missing long OT in the playoffs to keep me company.
As you may suspect, I'm a mad hockey fan, and take the summer as a personal insult. I also do not like heat and humidity.
I have osteoarthritis in my knees, which means I am confined to home most of the time because I am also morbidly obese (my eating disorder is binging), which worsens the effects of the disease.
I'm waiting for OHIP to approve lapband surgery (a personal request: please, please ask your angels to help this happen), which will in turn ease the pressure on the knees as I lose weight slowly but surely, without the risks and lifelong effects of gastric bypass.
I'm in one of those endless loops, where I can't exercise because of pain, the pain is caused by my weight, I can't exercise to help lose the weight when I'm using a walker and/or wheelchair and can't drive or sit in one position for longer than 10 or 15 minutes.
Sigh.
I have a son who is about to turn 22, and a daughter who is 15 1/2. I am married, not too happily right now, and revel in our two retrievers, a male black Lab named Marlowe and a female golden named Purdy who believes and demands that we all acknowledge her as goddess of the universe and beyond. Marlowe is happy to be subservient to all and loves everyone and everything, including skunks. He is my special sweetie.
I'm sure you'll learn more about me as time passes. BTW, I met Deb as a journalism student in the '70s, and she is one of my most treasured friends. As an added bonus, I met Jean, and consider her "a kindred spirit," as Anne Shirley says, and so both Angel Ladies are very dear to my heart.

Hi Deb,
Welcome aboard! This rainy weather is not nice for the knees -- oy, getting older can be full of interesting adventures, yes?

Glad you joined the group. After Saturday, we'll be around to chat more.
Big hugs,
Deb
